The Food Basket Program…This was discussed in some detail. Some $50,000.00 was allotted to help provide food baskets to the retirees. A contract was seemingly drawn up between United Healthcare and Rodgersville Farms to provide the fresh vegetable baskets. Some of the questions raised had to do with the retirees on St. Thomas…Were they likely to benefit from the food program in the same way retirees on St. Croix would? Would retirees be entitled to just one bag of food per year? Betty Wilson expressed some concern about the project and said that she would be unable to continue to lead the struggle in terms of organizing the food program. Nothing was finalized re the questions raised.
Election of Officers…Phyllis Nehlsen who was handling this matter, said that anyone interested in holding a position should contact her ASAP.
